The name “Moore’s Rescue Ranch” honors Kim’s family heritage, as the rescue is located on land passed down through the Moore family for generations. The property has a rich history, originally housing the family home built in 1866 by Kim’s great-great-grandparents. Although the house was lost to a fire in 1912 and later rebuilt and removed, the land remains a cornerstone of the family’s legacy.

Kim has always had a deep love for animals and dreamed of doing something meaningful for them and her community. Her co-worker of 27 years, Donna, shared this passion, particularly for cats, making her the perfect partner for the rescue. Kim’s experience as a transporter for Mobile Mutts, guided by founders Earl and Marion Steven’s, gave her the knowledge and inspiration to establish Moore’s Rescue Ranch. Earl, who played a crucial role as treasurer, was a key supporter of Moore’s until his passing.
